The Athletic Training Milestones are adapted from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), who publish a variety of useful Milestones Resources on their website. Provided here are references and links to original ACGME source material that was utilized to guide the work.  The milestones from each of the specialty organizations that were used extensively for this work (e.g., internal medicine, family medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation) are also provided for reference. In addition, some key references supporting the development of the general competencies and milestones in graduate medical education are provided. These resources are not intended to be exhaustive, but are referenced here to provide interested readers with greater background material and a deeper understanding of the milestones and their use in competency-based medical education.
